Vancouver Trojans Fold
At yesterday's British Columbia Football Conference meeting in Surrey the Vancouver Trojans requested the club be granted "non playing status".

The club will not field a team in the B this season, and should the club wish to return in the future application will be required. The move affects only the Trojans junior club as the organization plans to continue to operate its minor programs.

The Trojans captured the national championship in 1982, but since that time have struggled for wins on the field. The Sun boasted a 53 wins / 3 losses lifetime record against the Trojans. The last loss being the 1982 BC championship, 49 games ago.

The B will be a 6 team conference in the 2010 season with the clubs all playing a balanced 10 game home and away against each other.

The 2010 season kicks off the weekend of July 17. The full schedule will be released in the coming weeks

Trojans and Rams Merge

Ryan Watters - 1/28/2010
The British Columbia Football Conference's Vancouver Trojans have merged with the South Surrey Rams commencing this season.   The two teams will run as a joint operation playing as the Rams and have protected 65 players.  The B have placed a moratorium on the other member teams from signing the remaining players until March 1, 2010.

Despite their “non-playing status” the Trojans will still operate their minor program independently.  If the Trojans wish to re-enter the B in the future they will be required to apply to the League.

B President Frank Naso says, "The Trojans have been a strong organization over the years, despite their record for the past few. The combination of the economic downturn and the loss of most of their Direct Access funding caused fiscal hardship to the Conference's oldest franchise - to the point that the junior program was no longer viable."

The Trojans captured the national championship in 1982, but have struggled on the field.  In their last two seasons the Trojans 1-19, including finishing 0-10 during the 2008 season.

The 2010 B schedule will be released in the next few weeks.
