Looks like Greg Knox could end up as DC at the U of Alberta. Rumours abound that Knox is in the final running for the vacant DC position. It could change the Bear defence from a very stagnant one to one that will send 6, 7,or even 8 from multiple fronts and formations. If true it will be interesting to watch the western Canada coaches adjust to Knox and his defensive style. One guy familiar with the headaches Knox defences can cause is new Calgary OC Pat Sheahan who faced Knox many times during their time in the OUA.

The Bears just got a whole lot better. As a Mac fan, I'm glad we don't have to face him in the OUA!

Good luck Coach Knox!

Couldn't agree more, I am Mac season ticket holder and Knox is an incredible coach may be the best in the CIS no exaggeration. Mac's three Vanier appearances were more due to Knox than any coach.

Knew he would land on his feet, just a matter of when.

Glad to see one mistake won't ruin his career, and I wish him good luck, except against Mac.

I have been reading up on Greg Knox. He seems to be a tyrant, a bully, someone who enjoys pushing players around. Our Kids will not respond to that behaviour and most will not tolerate it. Watch a complete exodus of players next year

We do not want you in Edmonton go back east. Maybe you can coach Trudeau

Most people in the west are not pathetic little wimps like you.  I am sure the players can handle a tough but highly skilled coach.

based on their recent losing records the University of Alberta could use a fair bit of toughening up, Edmonton is a bunch of union loving socialists so the players have probably been hardly working like government employees and teachers.

the guy is a great defensive coach, nobody questions that.  but it takes a lot of more than knowing about X's and O's to keep you job.  A great track record, including 3 vanier apperances won't dismiss being an ahole, treating student-athletes like garbage, and acting like a petulant 3 year old in the workplace.  Case in point.....York's HC is a making a serious run for worst coach in Cdn football history but being a cute, cuddly little guy makes it hard to fire him.

That is not true.  He was and is a good coach.  He's respectful to players, but was upset with the ref and guys on the sideline who charged into him physically.  It was totally blown out of proportion, because the new acting AD Alfano didn't get along with him.  The players who witnessed this went to bat for him and protested his suspension.

Prior to the contest, players — who say they'd been ordered to remove T-shirts with messages supporting their coach prior to at least two recent games — peeled the school logo from their helmets.

Relax everyone, this is not an Edmonton dad.  Just some drama from other teams nervous of the impact of a coach whose players love him, who knows how to win, and who knows how to get them to the CFL.

Coach Knox had the support of his players, coaches and parents.   Just not that of his weasel opportunistic boss trying to get his bud  Coach Ptaszek his job back.

Crazy how MacNeill can put his feet on players in the film room, treat them as dogs and can stay in the OUA but Knox yells at one official and gets banished to Alberta. IMO what MacNeill did was worse then Knoxy. He'll be back in the OUA as a head man soon enough.

Personae non grata in Ontario!!!

Not true, he was most likely payed out, received a good severance which may have stipulated he could not coach in Ontario this year.

Many teams would have jumped at the chance to pick him up
Expect a dramatic improvement with the Bears

That's BS.  The players liked Knox.  He treated them well.  They stood up for him in spite of any fallout from the powers that be at Mac.  You don't do that for a coach who treats you like garbage.
York's HC is there because no one wants the job.  It's difficult to recruit there for a variety of reasons - they have difficulty attracting coaches and players. They've never done well, transportation and location is a problem there. Rough area.   That said, Grunwald liked Knox - the two got along very we'll.  When he left Mac and Alfano was acting AD, he and Knox didn't get along.  He made the situation into a bigger problem than it was, created more drama, dragged it out, even though the OUA only gave Knox a one game suspension.   Even the players and their families protested against what Alfano was doing and supported Knox. This was obvious during the game where the AD went ballistic and ordered them to take their Knox jerseys off.  The petulant 3 year old was Alfano

Prior to the contest, players — who say they'd been ordered to remove T-shirts with messages supporting their coach prior to at least two recent games — peeled the school logo from their helmets. Third-year defensive back Noah Hallett says the decision to do this was made on Monday, right after the firing.

It was as muscular a statement as they could have made and as unambiguous a shot at the university's administration as they could have drawn up.

"It got the point across," fifth-year defensive lineman Josh Lolli says.

If that didn't do the trick, running onto the field carrying two giant cut-outs of Knox's face certainly did.

He might be a good coach but edmonton players are use to Morris gentle touch and will not play for Knox hard style. You will see these players react negatively to it and the Bears will give up the highest points ever.

Until Knox recruits the players he wants.

There will be a huge exodus of players the next 3 yrs till he gets his players.

Another 3 straight 1 win seasons for UofA.

Unless Morris tells Knox to cool it and smile lots
