Zone 5?

How did the Sal/Rams stacked zone 5 team lose so badly in the gold metal game? You would think with the #106 ranked QB in North America and his Dad calling the plays they could have at least scored a couple points.

Was Calgary that good or did zone 5 play that poorly?

The answer to that is very simple.  Zone 5 had little to no talent - based on the roster the only players considered were the ones wearing Sal or Rams helmets...  But I guess when the head coach is the Head Coach for the Rams and the O.C. Coach is all about Sal this should have come as no surprise to the Zone 5 community.

Zone 3 has given up 1 TD overall in the past 3 games. We are that good!

Great to see trolls picking on a 14 year old. Doesn't matter who their parents is. Classless move

Hardly "picking on". When players(no matter thier age) post on various social media plateforms about thier "rankings " they are open to criticism/ evaluation of performance.
If you are going to pump up your recruiting profiles , your also going to have to face the scrutiny as well when it's not backed up.

I have to agree if you go around posting that you are that great then you better be able to back it up when the time comes.  Don't pump your own tires if you don't want to be held accountable - and it doesn't matter the age if your going to make claims you had better be able to make the plays.

call them the "Orange Slice Parents" they think ALL of the players are still 7 year olds playing a sport where at halftime a different parent brings the Orange Slices or if you prefer the "Watermelon Slice parents" & everything is just for "fun", cannot say anything about Billy's or anyone else's performance according to these people, meanwhile the opposing coaches are trying to beat you up
other sports send the "just for fun kids" to Level 5 and the serious players play in Division 1, Summer Games would be more like Div 1
some of these kids pump their own tires on their Social Media, so if you want to be the star then like "accountability" says be prepared

Kids can handle it

Personally know the family and I am very sure the kid and the dad can handle their first loss in two years. The kid can look back at his two Provincial Championship rings and remember that he hung similar scores on numerous teams.

Where I am surprised is that so many adults follow 14 year old boys on social media.

Black Gold was a heck of a team and their coaches did a great job. We lost in the semis to them in a close battle and their kids fought hard and clean to the last whistle. Not sure what more you want from them.

Agreed that Calgary was that good in this game. Strong showing as always.

It is certainly a great accomplishment to win 2 provincial championships in a row ....its even more meaningful when you have directly contributed to those win's(3rd string in 2016?). Lets not have selective memories on who did what that year.

Hard to avoid the relentless promotional machine in Sherwood Park - I suppose you could go off the grid? Na....would still get flyer's dropped from the sky touting how fantastic all the players are and what schools are clamoring to sign them.

No question Calgary had a strong game, but is it unreasonable to think that the zone 5 team simply didn't play to their potential?  That happens in sports does it not and even at the pro level.  No need for Zone 5 kids or coaches to hang their heads.

For the guy who asked what happened to Zone 5... they played well, but Zone 3 is just that strong.

In the semi final. Zone 3 had more TDs than Zone 4 had first downs.
#98 RB on Zone 4 is a beast...announcer was comparing him to Jerome Bettis "the Bus".
#22 QB took a licking and kept on ticking. I was impressed with his toughness too. Not a big kid, but he kept getting up after getting knocked down again and again and again.

Here is the video for the final for anyone that wishes to take a look for themselves:

The kids in Zone 5 did fine. Nothing to be ashamed of.
However, Zone 3 is in a class by themselves. The scores (49-0; 37-0; 40-0) don't fully show how dominant Zone 3 was. They could have easily added 20 - 40 more points in each game. In fact, if I recall correctly, I think the gold medal game ended with Zone 3 taking a couple of knees inside the 5 yd line.

A team does not play well losing 40-0, if a coach told that to players Bantam kids are plenty smart enough to know 40-0 is not playing well.

I don't think you understand how dominant the Calgary team was.
Look at the rest of the tournament. Aside from Calgary games, the tournament was very competitive, and the Black and Gold played well. Despite the lopsided score, they also played well against Calgary.
Calgary's average differential was 40+ points for 3 games. There were only two other games where the point differential was greater than 2 touchdowns.

Zone 5 played well, but they had to play a team that completely outmatched them.

Margins of Victory in the tournament
49 pts Zone 3 with the clock on run time in second half
40 pts Zone 3 with the clock on run time in fourth quarter
37 pts Zone 3 with the clock on run time in fourth quarter

25 pts Zone 5
20 pts Zone 7

14 pts Zone 6
12 pts Zone 6
10 pts Zone 5

2 pt margin in 2 games
1 pt margin in 2 games

A team can be dominant fine, no one plays well that loses by 40 points Pollyanna. Even the most optimistic coach who never tells the truth would not say that. It's an asinine statement. You can say "they played well other than the game they lost by 40 points".
Players do not improve by being told they played well when they don't, mistakes being pointed out is part of the development process.

Pollyanna? Asinine? Seriously?  Undecided
Do you ridicule and belittle in all your interactions? Is it that you simply don't know how to have a friendly discussion, or are you this way on purpose?
