It is that time of year when Associations, especially in the Bantam level are going into junior high schools to recruit players. The basic pitch is come try the sport of Football

But there are some underlying intentions, especially to those kids who have already been identified as talented.

Last night (from kids) I heard a certain Catholic high  School name came up. Even though they all go to PUBLIC junior high. ? Say what!

The fact is if you ain’t recruiting you ain’t trying.

Kids have choices
Students/parents have ways to circumvent the system legally. You DO NOT have to go to your designated school. That is a fact. Do not be mislead. You have options

If you are a high school coach and not recruiting. And there are various ways. Let your players do it, let parents do it, let your affiliate Bantam coaching staffs do it. Whatever. If you are NOT recruiting. If you are hoping this system will stop recruiting. The school board will make everyone go to their designated school. Make Public go to public. Make Catholic go to Catholic...

.....You have your head in the sand and you will never beat a certain team! Btw you figured out yet which separate school is associated to a certain Bantam coach who visited a public junior high.

Recruiting starts in the PeeWee level. Ramps up in Bantam. Goes crazy if you are a grade 9 all star.

Get out there Coaches

Recruiting also means recruiting players who are suppose to go to your school! Take care of your backyard first. You never know who is lurking in the bushes. A sword in one hand and a bible in the other

Upcoming new high schools hate recruiting. So does schools who lost the recruiting war like McNally, Carroll, Marys, grandin, bob, Cent. Schools who have seen players they think they own like property go to other schools. Freedom of choice. Ever heard of it.

Abe and thirsk are so close to being Div 1 competitive. They are retaining the non catholic and the ones who haven’t converted to st Francis.

They need better coaches/teachers

Looks like a bunch of Daddy *SSSHOLES from St Francis dad had very little to do today so they started a thread and posted under different names. or worse the WW dimwits who sent their kids there to lose

This is these petty types of idiots "Revenge" for the Cowboys getting reduced to one team so they fight back on a football board

Well you lost, there is no "Freedom of Choice" in Calgary Public High Schools, the choice part means your kid can go to Rundle but you cant afford it or a Muslim School if you choose, maybe a Chinese school - that is choice

You are a loser and your kid sits on the bench at Francis, we all see you grousing old Dads at the Francis games with frowns on your faces even when you are winning. You are the guys who find an excuse to not come to the Fall Year end banquet because your kid only played on the kickoff team

It's so awkward when your kid sits on the bench all the time, the coaches don't even know your name or what to say to you

oh yeah, a couple of years back they said to you "bring yuour boy to Francis & we are sure we can find a spot for him"

Go to the High School where you will be a starter kids, these old buggers will screw you over in a New York second, they have no moral compass & never had the empathy to walk in another person's shoes

Too bad about them Cowboys eh? Your kid sat on the bench there too, "hey, get the starters some water"

Yes you have freedom of choice as to which school to attend as a grade 9 student. However I wouldn't encourage any student to pick a school based on football, or even where all your "friends" are going. Pick the school that is best for YOU! And unfortunately getting a football scholarship is a long shot for most players. Pick a school that's going to be your best fit academically. You mind and brain will get you a lot further than high school football will for 99.5% of kids.

- You do not have "freedom of choice" of publicly funded schools, there is no such thing and HS boundaries are being enforced right at the moment with new schools, the wasted money of having 2 school systems - one catholic and one public was not made so your kid can play football, you seem to misunderstand what an education system is for
there should be one school system as religion is barely taught and not a very popular subject & most "catholic" kids are seldom seen near a church except on special occasions, it is one big sham as ppl could attend church on Sunday no matter what school they go to, they all end up in a blended post-secondary sustem so what difference does it make?
- 2 accounting departments, 2 procurement staffs, 2 Huge Bureaucracies to pay and run, Teachers Unions that have massive amounts of time off and take double the sick days of any private business, 2 different maintenance staffs, the list goes on and on
- if a child was designated as public in grade 1 they should have to stay in Public instead of "suddenly finding religion" and going to play football at St Francis or Notre Dame, what a joke that is - and yes, it is cheating to recruit Public school kids to a Catholic Rome ruled school system

No boundaries this year. There are lots of players going to their non designate this year.

You all are talking about next year?

We will see. But I doubt it. If you look into both boards websites they go over the process of enrolling into a school that is not your designate. Transferred students who want to play sports is also addressed

You might say there is no way. That is your opinions. But it is an opinion NOT Fact!

As a student you can go anywhere. Just say the correct thing and follow the process.

Prohibiting a person. Taking away rights. I smell lawsuit! No way you can limit freedom

If u read all the posts I think you already have your answer and it is the same answer as before

The ones recruiting will continue recruiting hard and will continue to get those players and find a legal way of doin it

The ones who do not like recruiting still believe the system will block recruiting. The system will solve this issue they have with recruiting. They believe it is happening this year just like the previous year just like the year before.

Well like me tell you non lovers of recruiting. It has been happening for over 40yrs. Since I remember. It will continue. There is no reinforced change!

I am ok with you not getting with the program. Either your morals are approaching saint hood or don’t know how to recruit or too lazy to.

BUT stop bitching when you loose.....again

I gave everyone the solution years ago
-offer every single course in every high school
- courses offerered in every school will increase in number
To do this
- you must hire a few dozen more teachers.
- students will be spread out more. More courses offered
- therefore probably need a few more schools

To afford this
- everyone’s taxes will go up a few hundred

Never ever happen! Therefore students will always have a choice given to them by the school boards!

the same group that got Bantam Football changed to reduce the Cowboys to one team from all over the city has now focused efforts to have High School Division 1 Football changed, it will happen, it just takes a little time & that is being worked on
the same chuckling fools that said Cowboys would never lose a team now know change will happen, it just did right before your eyes
Teachers who make $100,000 with 10 years experience will realize how crazy they are for ILLEGALLY recruiting football players when one of them loses their job for it, evidence is in hand with more coming in, your "friends" may not be as friendly as you think they are recruiters

Cowboys Bantam numbers have been reduced to 80 tryouts a year. They can either have two above average teams that have a good chance to win

Or
Have only 1 super team

It was the Cowboys who requested 1 team to guarantee dominance in Bantam and go back winning Provincial championships all while keeping their territory until their newest communities grow old enough to produce 2 teams later

All u guys that stupid as u look!

As for recruiting they want the crackdown. Some other high schools figured it out and are catching up. Francis still has all the NW Catholic players. Better odds cracking down and suppress the other smarter recruiting schools

Actually u r that stupid

Cowboys always so arrogant, the "Super Team" funny

your coaches are not good enough to pick the all the right players and you cannot project who will grow and who will not, and who will improve and who will regress, some kids are stars at 13 and totally fall off by the age of 16

everything was your idea was it? nice recovery attempt

Bantam spring camps begin in the next couple of weeks so be on the lookout for wisewood to sick their dogs to "volunteer".

Youll be able to tell because theyll have no shame about what they're doing, repping wisewood gear all over practice and starting every sentence with "At wisewood we do this".

Hey wisewood coaches, its not that you guys recruit, its really not. Its that you recruit and run a mockery of a program with those players, you ruin them, you don't coach them up, you let them be lazy. No one would say anything about your recruiting if you actually won every once in a while but if you want to take every top player in the south then do something with them.

Truly the worse coaches are those who take a great player and get him to play average and truly the best coaches are those who take an average player and get him to play great.

WW coaches get exposed anytime they coach spring football for a reason.

Let me expand and give you an example

Canada cup the last 2yrs. IMHO team Alberta had teams that should have gone to the Finals if not win it all. UofA Coach Morris is one of the worse coaches I have ever come across and single handily made all the wrong calls to sabotage the players efforts.

You can not overcome the Generals orders who gets the final say.

Same thing happened to WW last year. I saw 3 games and just laughed and shrugged my shoulders. The absolute worse OC coaching performance I’ve seen in a whole year. Just like Morris was the worse in a weekend.

Just because you coached University does not mean you understand the players and high school game

You will see the exact same comments made by Canada cup Ontario team!

WW did not have top talent last year AND their coaches could not coach what they had. The parents of some of the players the parents thought were "top talent" kept promoting that loudly but that was not the reality. The dad-touted running back lost at least two games himself with untimely fumbles at key times and the QB that runs around like a chicken with a lopped off head never runs the play the OC calls and just confuses the entire team. When the QB manages to pass the receivers dropped balls because they could not catch. The fundamentals are bad and the below average players go to get the two hoodies along with their average friends at WW. Just because a kid made an all-star team in Bantam does not mean they will be good 3-4 years later. Some are & some are not. Your RB who got..."bigger"...stopped running for long touchdowns because after grade 10 in Div 1 all of the players have learned to tackle. This was not Bantam anymore Toto.
This year will be worse. The mediocre are now the best players on the team.

It is ILLEGAL, your Coach has been suspended for it within the last 2 years, what is being bashed in WW is ILLEGAL RECRUITING that is against CSHSAA and ASAA rules
and even more comically, WW failed in their cheating, failed massively, this is on the adults not the 15 year olds who don't know any better when adult coaches outright tell them lies
anyways, they are not winning anything likely never again, times up

Yes plz Bigga Dealo tell us your real name. Us Calgary folk are feeble compared to you. All we have is UofC. You obviously played in the NFL with a storied career, capping off with a hall of fame gold jacket. You are far superior to all of us.

- and yes WW, Coaching and it’s recruiting and players

Notre dame, Francis, the Cowboys- they've all recruited but atleast they've won something in the last decade.

Those programs actually make their players better as opposed to wisewood who you could barely tell if that U16 got any better over his 3 years.

I like what one of the users above said - "Truly the worse coaches are those who take a great player and get him to play average and truly the best coaches are those who take an average player and get him to play great. "

Unfortunately WW doesn't know how to coach up average players, we saw it this season in midget. The Stamps were never even close to beating anyone, a good coaching staff can atleast keep the game relatively close. The Stamps ran the exact same playbook (wisewood playbook) all season and gave no regard to their talent level. Instead of scheming to better their team they selfishly kept running their WW playbook built for their WW kids.

But atleast it gave all those WW kids some practice before the real football starts. You know WW is desperate when they start trying to nab div 2/3 kids.
