People here seem to think that the Bantam board decided to field only one Cowboys team out of fairness. No they din't, the Cowboys couldn't field two teams this year because they don't have enough players to do it. They aren't going to cut 50 kids.

The problem board members still remain, nothings changed except for now the Cowboys can have their superteam just like midget.

The whole league is in shambles and anyone who supports this non sense is just a straight up idiot. Every coach in the league is just a *****ing idiot for continuing to put up with this.

I'm convinced, the league will not keep football alive for very long. They don't know how to do it either because of incompetence or purposeful ignorance.

No one really knows what happened with Cowboys minus one team. So I don't think posters being effusive with credit to anyone. They should never have had more than 1 team period. It is back to how it should be.

Football is slowly dying, that is clear.

If you watch High School and Spring football, the thing that makes a team "SUPER" is outstanding FAST playmakers plus strong players in most positions. Cowboys are restricted by boundaries, so sometimes they might have some of those, other times not.

What is worse is St Francis which can and does recruit from anywhere with no boundaries. Those cheating buggers are solid in a lot of positions so they concentrate on trying to recruit fast guys, QB's & playmakers.

2 sides of the same scumbag.

The CBFA receives so much money from 50/50 tickets alone.

I'm curious how they justify charging kids 330$ in league fees (this doesn't include the cost that each team adds on).

It just doesn't make sense to me, the money doesn't add up.

Restricted by boundaries? Pretty sure the Raymond kid doesn't live in Cowboy's territory.

Who is "the Raymond kid"?

Spring football has the same boundaries with Calgary as Bantam.

Plays for the Cowboys.
Father used to play for the Stamps.
Does not live within the Cowboys boundaries.

Just responding to someone who says that the Cowboys are restricted by boundaries just like everyone else.

Word spreads around our league very quickly. Everyone has friends on different coaching staffs that talk. Coaches you guys coach in this league every year expecting that "things will be different this year". It won't be, it wasn't last year, it wasn't ten years ago and it simply never will be because those in power have a strangle hold on everything football.

Studies show that all it takes for extreme change to happen is 15% of a population going against the grain. In the case of our league that's one team.

Everyone in this league is too scared too say "enough" because they're afraid that no other team in league will back them up. Coaches you need to know that nearly every single team has had it with our leadership and coaching staffs are sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for someone to pull the first trigger. DO NOT THINK YOU'RE ALONE, every team has the same thoughts about the league as you do and all it takes is one coach to start "something".

I understand why youre paranoid but I want you to know that anytime I have individual conversations about the league with coaches across multiple teams nearly every single coach expresses their frustrations/anger and wants to do something but no one knows what to do.

What needs to happen is clear. Coaches need to start talking amongst themselves, not in-front of the entire coaching staff but one on one. Ask your coaches what they think and let it be known that "you have had it". Eventually the entire coaching staff will start talking together and somebody has to man up and bring it up - the threat of refusing to coach unless changes happen.

This threat has to be agreed upon by most of the coaches and once an oath is sworn amongst your brotherhood you must reach out to the rest of your coaching buddies on other teams and let them know what your team is doing. They will start chatting and I promise you coaches that YOU WILL HAVE SUPPORT AND THE TEAMS WILL RISE WITH YOU.

All it takes is one, one person and a hundred coaches are waiting for that one person and team to rise.

________________

Lets imagine for a moment that this protest is successful, all the teams rise up. The board will have to submit to demands and we can make this very simple.

A change in voting rights must be enacted for the 2019 Bantam season and only allow 4? board representatives to vote that are not affiliated with any teams (President, Vice President, Commissioner, Director). Voting rights are then given to one representative from every club.

This is what hockey Calgary does and why they are so much better run than Calgary football.

"1 Delegate from each association will carry the voting rights for their association. Person named on credential form will receive voting card at AGM registration." https://www.hockeycalgary.ca/event/agm

A change in voting rights will mean that the board can not tilt the vote to one side by bringing in alumni no longer affiliated with any team.

A change in voting rights will allow for better oversight and accountability.

A change in voting rights that will give head coaches more power will ensure that the board can not be loaded with alumni loyal to a single team.
_____________

A change in voting rights will absolutely not solve all the problems, however it is the first step in the right direction and one that has been long awaited.

Perhaps my idea is bad, in which case assuming a protest is successful, coaches could "vote" amongst themselves a representative that will talk to the league and work out a deal, this deal must be approved by the at least 70% of the rest of the head coaches.

Coaches, I can't stress this enough, it just takes one brave man to get the ball rolling. You put hundreds of hours into this sport, if you've been coaching for five years you've put in thousands. Your life revolves around football and you know the benefits it brings to our youth. You also know that you don't trust the board to make the right decisions. Its up to you coach.

The time for action is at spring camp so that there's two months for everything to boil over before the games start.

Have a great spring camp everyone.

He used to live in Cowboys territory and so when they moved, asked the league if he could stay...like so many other kids in the leauge. Find another thing to complain about. Next!

Most kids who want to play for a team outside of their boundaries, need to go to the team that they should be playing for and ask for a release.
I guess if you want to play for the Cowboys you just go to the league and ask if they'll allow it?

No. Your own Club team in your own Boundary has to agree to give a player a Release.
A player is more likely to get a release if that player is not considered very good. Teams short of players might not release anyone. They can't. If 2 teams each had a player who wanted to move they might discuss it.

All of those 2nd and 3rd stringers who sit on the bench for Cowboys and St. Francis should get a release in the Cowboys case and go be an actual player and a starter with another club. Those Cowboys coaches have you nailed to the bench and doing kickoff team.

High School Football at the very least should enforce Public School/Protestants/Others to go to PUBLIC High School only from their designated FEEDER schools and the exact same with CATHOLIC Schools.
The school system was not built so some parent can put his kid on a football team. They cannot do it in Pee Wee, Bantam or Midget with Boundaries. Talked about messed up with 2 different sets of rules.

How many Dad's have sent their boy Johnny to the Browns only to watch him be a back-up and his only duty during a game is to run water to the Starters when they demand it.

Bobby Boucher, the Browns Waterboy: "Now that's what I call high quality H2O."
