Can someone tell me how Ontario places 2nd, looses championship by only 3 points and they only have 4 deserving representatives? Not a good representation of the tournament! I would think there would be more parity when representing the entire country.

Answer = they are better players on other teams.

For months leading up to this tournament we had to listen to how Ontario was going to crush every team by 30+ points.  This humble pie is great for the rest of us.

It's not about humble pie! It is about what is right for the players. All teams had players deserving of representing Team Canada. You are telling me that Manitoba had no players that could play? I'm sure they had at least one player that could have bumped one of the 17 players from Quebec.

I suspect that the coaches worked hard to figure out who the best players are.  I am amazed that one particular player was left off the team but then I suppose that there are a lot of great players left off of the team.  I have no doubt that the 40 players who made the team deserve it.

Ontario's poor performance, and the resulting poor representation on Team Canada is a direct representation by the poor selection of Ontario players. They do not select the best from Ontario, they select who they want from the areas they want. If this process is allowed to happen then you muct live with the consequences. Team Q has try outs and picks from the entire province. They only pick the best, and look at their numbers. It works.

You talk as if Ontario placed last. Correct me if I'm wrong they placed 2nd loosing by only 3 points. Doesn't sound like the colossal fail that you talk of. Second of all, I don't recall tryouts being only open to a choosen few. I understand that geography can be an issue but if a player feels they can contribute and make the team they will make the effort to attend a tryout.

There couldn't be any other way to say it. You are absolutely correct. Team O doesnt pick the best of the best but Q does. Ontario is all about the politics, who is coaching and who those coaches are trying to recruit later on. Team O tryouts are an formality and players are usually picked before try outs or don't even need to try out. The Ontario system is broken. Until it is fixed, there will be low representation on Team Canada.

I don't know how they do things anywhere else but in Alberta almost the entire team was picked from Calgary area and 7 of 9 players going to Team Canada from Alberta are from Calgary area.  A lot of politics in Alberta too.

Hmmm, maybe they picked all of these kids from the Calgary and surrounding area because Calgary and surrounding area dominated provincially this year. Quite the question to ponder.
